About Shirley

The kennel is owned by Shirley Costigan who established the business in 1970 and has run it continuously up until a few years ago. She has been breeding top show and hunting Labrador Retrievers for over 40 years. She prides herself on producing Labradors that are both champions in the show ring, and successful in the field. She has produced over 50 show champions including multiple Best in Show wins and Top Labrador in Canada. And many of her dogs hold obedience titles, gun dog and working certificates. |
Shirley and her dogs are highly respected, with Springfield Labs located across North America and as far away as New Zealand. Shirley has even supplied the US Navy with Springfield Labs to be trained for specialist detection work on ships at sea.
Shirley was one of the founders of the Labrador Retriever Club of Canada and is a lifetime member of the CKC.
John Costigan

John is Shirley's son and has been involved with dogs and the kennels for most of his life. After taking a break for a few years, John is now back running the kennel again. He is an avid dog lover and keeps the kennels maticulously clean. John carries on the tradition of providing the excellent pet care Springfield is known for. |
