Testimonials

When we pull up in the driveway, he jumps out of the van and runs right down to the kennel – he knows the way. When we pick him up, he is happy to see us and sleeps for 2 to 3 days but is fine and usually has lost a few pounds (they make sure he has exercise and don’t over feed him).

I would not hesitate to recommend Springfield Kennels to any of my friends for their dogs - and have done so.

We were referred to Springfield Kennels by a friend of ours and we feel it is the best kennel in the Clagary area. We always feel comfortable and secure having our dog Logan board there. Logan is very athletic and requires a lot of exercise. He always jumps out of the car with excitement upon arrival, and comes home in excellent spirits.

Boarding

The kennels were originally designed for the kennel owner’s top show dogs – not as a commercial operation. So there are a number of things that make Springfield Kennels special:

  • We provide all the sights and smells of the country, with runs facing out onto a grassed paddock surrounded by trees. We even have the occasional group of deer wandering by.
  • With only 25 pens, we have more time to give individual attention and care to the dogs. This means a longer run and play time (twice a day) in the exercise paddock.
  • We have some of the largest individual pens in the country (up to 24ft x 8ft outside with 8ft x 6ft heated sleeping areas). Dogs can move between their inside and outside areas at will.
  • We keep smaller, older and more timid dogs in a special area for companionship.
  • Unlike many other kennels, all our outside runs are open topped to enjoy the sun, and have chain link sides so the dogs can see each other. This reduces stress and barking because new nervous arrivals see calm and happy dogs next to them – so they too remain calm – that’s pack instinct.
  • Whereas some other kennels have closed in runs where dogs feel isolated and insecure, causing a chain reaction of barking, high noise levels and further stress.
  • New environments can be stressful for dogs, so we try to keep the changes to a minimum. We ask that you bring your own dog food so your pet is fed what he enjoys, and is used to. We also suggest you bring his bed or a blanket or a toy with your home scent on it for familiarity.
  • We use a low-odor organic cleaner which does not irritate the dogs’ hyper-sensitive noses.
  • We limit the drop off and pick-up times to keep the kennel disruption to a minimum.
  • The kennel managers live onsite to ensure safety and a peaceful environment.
  • We welcome kennel viewings – by appointment.
